Ok. 2010 finally ends! Hooray, i didn't like it from the very beginning. With music i was heading back to more electronic and synth roots and thanks to Ariel Pink i even felt sympathy for reverb and lo-fi sounds for a moment. But together with all that witch house shit and unpronouncable names of bands with almost no melody and stupid echo's without anything you could catch in it, i started to hate it and i can't understand why so many "musicians" do that if they like some other band they come with almost the same name of their band! how come they don't feel stupid about copying others so obviously? bands with crystal, gold, beach, broken, magic, white, black, cold, wild, bear, wolf, ghost, glass, teenage..when i see such a word in a band, i can't give a shit about them anymore..
So 2010 was about experimenting and pumping from synthetic roots.

So there are my 12 favorite albums of this year:

2. TWIN SHADOW - Forget

3. ARCADE FIRE - The Suburbs

4. TORO Y MOI - Causers Of This

5. GIRLS - Broken Dreams Club

6. WILD NOTHING - Gemini

7. LOCAL NATIVES - Gorilla Manor

8. DEERHUNTER - Halcyon Digest

10. jj - nº 3

11. SUFJAN STEVENS - The Age Of Adz

12. CFCF - Panesian Nights

APPARAT ORGAN QUINTET - Polyfonia [2010]

Odkazy na tento příspěvek

The Apparat Organ Quartet is an Icelandic band founded in 1999 by Jóhann Jóhannsson, Hörður Bragason, Músikvatur and Úlfur Eldjárn. Here is their Myspace

. They have passion for out-moded musical machines and ancient communication technologies. You could definitely get that from the songs.. The album recording took very long to make, because they had to discover by themselves how to record an organ quartet: "We couldn't just go to the record-store and ask for an organ quartet album. We had to invent the genre." Polyfonia is their second one and it's quite danceable..

PRIZES - It's a Treasure(s) [2010]

Odkazy na tento příspěvek
Do you know Prizes? It's a guy from the UK (Liverpool or London?) who used to call himself Treasure and before that Treasures. His real name is Hari Ashurst (maybe). He started just last summer when he was waiting for the summer that didn't come. I'm glad that music scene in the UK is getting up again (from my point of view of course) and with so many names for just one artist my UK music folder seems even bigger :) I am kinda fed up with American monopoly cos its too far from me and i'm going to England for summer, so ...:)

Check his :::Prizeless Blog:::.

I was just talking to my friend recently about a possibility of going to Canada and that's when i've discovered this video too..

Prizes - Canada

He did a mix for my previous employer too - you can get it here :::: Prizes - Vice Mix :::

And he appears @ the Social EP with my favorite Memoryhouse, Vision of Trees and How To Dress Well that you could download here ::: The Line Of The Best Bit - Social EP :::

††††††††††►►►►►►►►►►►††††† WITCH▲HAUS †††††◄◄◄◄◄◄◄◄◄◄◄◄†††††††††

I've been following this "new" music for some time and WITCH▲HAUS is blog dedicated purely to it. Witch house..I don't mean the house in the city of Salem in the USA, i mean those weirdos playing electronic music, giving themselves unreadable names and pretending beiing mysterious and hip. I like some of it..not everything. It's the natural process for me of beiing bored of classic indie and electronic music, but i don't think this would be a long music period for me..I still appreciate "quality" too, fresh idea itself doesn't last long. But whatever, i like it now, and people always say that present is what counts!

So let's try that blog, it gives you everything for free, it only wants to be appreciated ;)

FMA - Free Music Archive

Odkazy na tento příspěvek

I came across to FMA today and i think it's a great project so I've decided to keep it in my memory and post it here cos it's something I'd love to have in the Czech republic and what I'd personally love to do. As far as I know my aim is to live with, around and from M U S I C and my only experience so far was in global media company Vice (which was close enough to my dream), but unfortunately in the Czech Republic it's run by two guys who ignore to pay money they owe so don't ever start anything with them unless you want to do it for free..I'll have to do something about that later too! But now about Free Musis Archive.

The Free Music Archive is an interactive library of high-quality, legal audio downloads. It is directed by WFMU, the most renowned freeform radio station in America. Radio has always offered the public free access to new music. So this is a continuation of that purpose, designed for the age of the internet.

The music there varies from what i call "mature alternative" to psychedelic and lo-fi. I've tried to search for Tanlines - nothing, Washed Out - nothing, but Ariel Pink and Deerhunter or Atlas Sound - lot of free tracks. No matter what, even if it's not the best source of free music, it's a quality website and cool idea!

As an example of their taste I've chosen a compilation made for Blackburn Recordings (http://blackburnrecs.blogspot.com/

I was searching for Bye Bye Blackbird and after that I've noticed that it belongs to Arcade Sound label, which is pretty cool and i've been listening lately to lot of (and promoting to my friends and here) Arcade sounds..

You could download much more music straight from their website so it's ridiculous to copy it here.. :)
